The Man from Ironbark Banjo Paterson (1892)

It was the man from Ironbark-village who went to Sydney-city.
He wandered around the streets and parks, he wandered up and down.
He walked over here, he walked over there,
until he was so tired he could fall down.
He was so bored and desperate he went into the nearest barber shop and said,
“Shave my beard and style my hair, I’ll look like a ‘Cool Businessman’, from Sydney, when I go home to my small farming village at Ironbark”.

大都市シドニーへ行ったのはそう、アイアン・バーク村の男だ。
男は街中や公園を散策し、住宅外や繁華街をうろついた。
こっちへあっちへ歩き回り、ついには倒れそうなほど疲れ果ててしまった。

暇でつまらなくなった彼は一番近い床屋へ入り、こう注文した。
「ヒゲを剃って髪型を整えてくれ。そう、まるでシドニーのかっこいいビジネスマンのように。」
彼は続けた。
「故郷の小さな農村アイアン・バークに戻ったときに、みなに見せてやりたいんだ。」
