長い間京都に住んでいるが、険しい山の上にあると聞いて躊躇していたが、世界文化遺産だということで、この度ようやく参ることにした。

高山寺は山の中に建物が点在しており、京都市内なのに街中とは別世界である。今でこそ国道が通っており、車で容易に訪れることができるが、かつては、
鬱蒼とした山中にあり、厳粛さ、静寂さは今とは比較にならないものがあったと思われる。

ここは、お茶発祥の地とも言われ境内には日本最古の茶園がある。
日本茶を頂き、自然に耳を傾ける。

I have lived in Kyoto for a long time, but I was hesitant to pay a visit it since I’ve heard that it is on the top of a steep mountain. Finally, I decided to visit there because it is one of world heritages.

Kozan-ji is dotted with several buildings in the mountain. It is a completely different world from the city of Kyoto. It is just now that there is national road and people can visit here driving a car. However, it used to be in a dense mountain. Solemnity and quietness must be no comparison to now.

In a shrine, there is Japan’s oldest tea filed as it is said that this place is the birthplace of tea. Listening the nature while having tea.
