ただ破壊しただけでは、従前の構造以上のものは生まれ得ない。新しい多くの材料を用意する必要がある。そこから新結合が誕生する。
イノベーターたちにおける新結合の流れは秩序から混沌、さらに再編になろう。既存の知識が秩序立っている安定状態があるとしよう。そこに新たにさまざまな知識を導入し、それらを混在化させて相互作用する混沌状態へと変える。その中から新たな組み合わせが生まれ、イノベーションにつながるアイデアが創出される。

The flow of the new combination among innovators becomes more and more whirling as it proceeds, and then reorganized. Let's say that the conventional knowledge is in an orderly manner; what we do for innovation is introduce various fresh knowledge and mix it with the conventional one only for it to be chaos, in which new combinations pop out that lead to the ideas for innovation.
