Joan Miró's oil painting <Still Life with Old Shoe> is an expression of his anguish ​​against the fascists of the Spanish Civil War. It's image is clearly depicted, consisting of an old shoe, a wine bottle, an apple stabbed with a fork and a halve sliced loaf of bread where a picture of a skeleton face is shown on it's open end. All of these objects are scattered in a seemingly arranged manner in an uncertain space where the colours, darkness and distorted objects exudes disgust. Although there is no special symbolism in this piece of work but it's a reflection of Miró's anguish and disgust to what was happening in his beloved country, Spain. The use of the objects, colours and distortions are to denounce the decadents, disasters and death.
