Finally, wisdom of partners was measured by insightful, mature, reflective, thoughtful, and wise(Cronbach's α= .79). We analyzed these data only for women with husbands or male partners. (One participant had a female partner and was excluded from these analyses). Means and standard deviations for partner characteristics can be found in Table 2.
Stewart et al.(2001) developed four scales that assess feelings about life: identity certainty, confident power, concerns about aging, and generativity. The exact item content appears in Zucker, Ostrove, and Stewart(2002). These four scales are assessed with eight items each.
