でもあなたの言う通り誰も死亡者が出なかったことは本当に奇跡だと思います。私が地震の事を知ったのは月曜日でした。いつもならインターネットで見て見逃さないニュージーランドの情報なのに2日間もこんな大きなことを知らずにいました。もっと早く知っていれば彼女に電話をして無事なことを確認する時に声が聞けたのに、もっと早くニュージーランドに行っていれば...そんなことを考えています。二人の無事ももっと早く確認できたのに私はとても怠慢でした。今はネットで情報収集して状況がわかってきました。
As you said, it's a miracle that nobody died. It was on Monday that I got to know the quake. Usually, I never miss what's going on in NZ but this time, for some reason, I hadn't known this big incident for as many as two days. If I had known this earlier, I could have called her to make sure she was all right and talked with her. I wish I had been there in NZ much earlier. I have to admit if I had been less lazy and updated more on NZ, I could have confirmed the safety of you earlier. Now I'm getting a clearer picture of what has happened after searching for info about it on the Net.
