豚革とは豚の原皮を鞣したもので、主にファッション素材として使われる革です
日本では、東京の墨田区で19世紀後半から豚革の製造が始まったとされています。
昔は価値の低かった豚革ですが、牛革よりも加工が容易なので、牛革にはできない用途でも活用されたり、タンナーの減少に伴い少しずつ価値が見直されています。
