By becoming an NRI, you will be the Importer of Record (IOR) on B2B shipments, incurring any applicable Canadian Customs fees. (Note that on all B2C shipments, the consignee is the Importer of Record and will be contacted for a Power of Attorney on all manifested shipments)
Becoming an NRI will enable you to sell your product to Canadian companies and consumers at a landed cost, inclusive of any applicable Duties, Taxes and Brokerage fees.
There are added responsibilities in becoming an NRI. You will be required to maintain any import documents (UPS Brokerage Invoices) for a period of six years, plus the current, as well as generate a quarterly report to the Canadian Government.
