これを見た清康は「立葵は正忠の紋で、正忠最初に味方になってくれて、そして戦争に勝った。吉例であり賜わらないっと言った。」そして本多家の立葵紋を譲受け清康ご自身の紋とした。その後、徳川家康によって「三つ葉葵紋」になったと伝えられている。
