国連が生まれたのは昭和20年、第二次世界大戦が終わった直後のことです。
当時のアメリカのルーズベルト大統領とイギリスのチャーチル首相の話 し合いをきっかけに51カ国でスタートしました。
日本の加盟は昭和31年で、80番目の加盟国です。
国連が作られたとき反省材料とされたのか国際連盟です。
その議決方式やアメリカの不参加などが障害となって、第二次世界大戦を回避できなかった教訓から、国連では戦勝国側に強い権限が与えられました。
The United Nations was born in 1945(20th year of Showa Era), immediately after the end of World War II.
It started with 51 countries in the wake of the talks between the ex-US president Franklin Roosevelt and the ex-British prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Japan joined the United States in 1957 (31th year of Showa Era) . Japan was the 80th member state.
When the United Nations was created, The League of Nations was examined as the issue need to be reconsidered.
Based on lessons learned from that it could not prevent the second world war due to its voting system and non-participation of the Unites States of America. in the United Nations, strong power was given to the victors of the war.
国連にはどんな機関があってどんな活動をしているのでしょう。
国連総会、安保理、国際司法裁判所、それに事務局くらいは聞いたことがあるでしょう。
それから安保理には常任理事国と非常任理事国があるのも知っていますか。
常任理事国が持つ拒否権についてもよく話題になりますね。
