小説の最後はこれから外の世界に出る事が出来たレッドが、先に脱獄しているアンディに会いに行くシーンで終わっている。
最後は実際の人生と同じように先が見えないけれど、希望に満ちたという雰囲気が伝わり、とても良かったとは思うが、やはりそのシーンの後に実際にアンディに会えた場面がある映画の方が、やはり自由と希望を持つ事は良い事だ。と納得がいって、見ていてとても気持ちが良かった.

The novel ends at a scene where Red who went out of the prison goes to see Andy who had escaped the prison before him.
The last part was good since we felt that they cannot see the future, which is the same as our life, but they are full of hope.
We were more satisfied by the movie where he saw Andy after the scene since it convinces us that it is good to have a freedom and hope. We were so comfortable at this scene.
