ハードメイプルトップとは、ボディトップに固い木質の「ハードロックメイプル」
という木材を使用しているという意味です。
LesPaulが登場した１９５０年代はこのハードメイプルトップがボディトップに
使用されており、これがオリジナルLesPaulのサウンドに大きな影響をもたらす
重要な要素であったのです。
美しい木目の出たメイプルは柔らかいものが多いため、固いハードロックメイプ
ルで木目の出た材は貴重であり、現代においては特別なギターだけに使用されて
います。
