室町時代末期、スケサダは工房で刀を作成していたため、スケサダの銘を名乗る刀工は数多く、様々な俗名を持つスケサダ作品が見られます。
中でも抜きん出た出来の良さで筆頭に上げられるのがヨザエモンスケサダで、カツミツ、キヨミツと並びビゼンの最上工として知られています。
本作は、テンモンのヨザエモンノジョウスケサダの銘とはやや異なり、後銘の可能性が有る、作風から同人の工房による作刀と思われ、ヨザエモンノジョウスケサダの典型的な作風をお楽しみいただけます。

At the end of Muromachi Era (AD 1336–1573), as Sukesada created swords at his studio, many swordsmith named themselves with Sukesada signature, there are many Sukesada works with a variety of secular names.
Amongst of all, Yozaemon Sukesada（原文に出てくる該当名称はこれ以外ではヨザエモンノジョウスケサダとなっているので、もしこちらも統一なさる場合はYozaemon no jo Sukesadaに変更をお願い致します） is first on the list known to be one of the best Bizen swordsmiths such as Kakimitsu and Kiyomizu.
Being slightly different from the signature of Yozaemon no jo Sukesada of Tenmon, and although the signature may have been named as the latter event, this sword is considered to be created from the same swordsmith's studio and it will enter tain you with the typical style of Yozaemon no jo Sukesada.
