国際オリンピック委員会（IOC）の125次総会で、2020年に開催される第32回夏季夏季オリンピックと第16回パラリンピック開催都市の投票が行なわれ、東京が開催地に選ばれた。
東京都が今年1月に提出した立候補ファイルによると、東京ビッグサイトはレスリング、フェンシング、テコンドーの会場として利用されるほか、14万3000平米の国際放送センターとメインプレスセンターとして使用される予定。そのうち延床面積4万4000平米は３層建てで増築する予定で、工費は144億円と計上されている。
In the 125th Session of the International Olympics Committee (IOC), Tokyo was elected as the host city of the 32nd Summer Olympic and the 16th Paralympic games in 2020 by vote.
According to the candidacy file submitted by Tokyo Prefecture in January, Tokyo Big Sight is planned to be the venue for Wrestling, Fencing, and Taekwondo events as well as International Broadcasting Center/Main Press Center which boasts 143,000 square meters. Of the total floor space, 44,000 square meters are slated to be secured by adding a three-story building for which a construction cost of 14.4 billion yen is budgeted.
