飛永由紀 (ytobinaga)

日本で生まれ、日本語→英語のバイリンガルです。日本、英国、米国で教育を受け、日米において翻訳・英文資料作成を含む長年のビジネス経験があります。現在は英国ロンドン在住。フリーランスの翻訳者としてビジネス、政治経済、文化に関する和英翻訳に従事しています。

大学卒業後１０年間、日本の大手出版社の国際部で主にビジネス文書の翻訳・作成、会議通訳の仕事をしていました。その後渡米し、大学院で国際関係を学んだのち、米国の大手会計事務所のジャパニーズ・プラクティスのマーケティング・マネージャーとして、日英両語の資料やニュースレター作成を含む様々なマーケティング・プロジェクトの企画・執行に携わりました。ジャパニーズ・プラクティスでほぼ１０年過ごしたのちに同会計事務所の国際部門に移転、ハイテク・メディア・通信業界担当のグローバル・マーケティング・マネージャー及びナレッジ・マネージャーとして勤めました。

2015年10月からはフリーランスの翻訳者として、ビジネス、政治経済、文化などに関する文書の翻訳をしています。翻訳の際は特に文法とスタイルに気をつけており、また適切な言葉・表現の選択を確認するため、入念なリサーチをしています。常に質の高いアウトプットを約束の時間内に納品することを心がけています。スケジュールは柔軟に対応できますが、特に連絡がつきやすい時間帯は月〜金 9:00~17:00（英国時間）です。

Born in Japan and raised and educated in Japan, the UK and the US, I have extensive business experience in Japan and the US, much of which has entailed translation from Japanese to English and the development of English-language business documents and marketing material. I currently live in San Francisco in the US as a freelance translator focusing on business, politics, current affairs, arts and culture.

For the first ten years of my career, I worked in the international business department of a major Japanese publishing house where I translated and produced business documents and acted as an interpreter to the executives.

I then moved to the US for a master’s program in international relations, and upon graduating, joined the Japanese Practice of a major US professional services firm as its marketing manager, a position that entailed producing marketing material in both English and Japanese. I later transferred to the Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications industry group, and in 2015 left to set up a career as a freelance translator.

When translating, I pay particular attention to grammar and style and conduct extensive research to ascertain that the appropriate words and expressions are used. I pride myself in producing high quality work in a timely manner. My standard hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.(GMT) Monday-Friday.
