At the peak of the business at ETRADE we managed a team of 500 people across 15 geographies. Some of those local businesses ultimately succeeded and some failed. In almost every case it came down to people on the ground and the quality of their conviction and execution. People, not your product, will be your greatest long-term asset. As you build your team my plea is that you build your startup for what you want it to be and not for what it is today.

When you are a small team of founding members you are full of enthusiasm for your product and the opportunity ahead of you (as you should be). Hopefully your idea will gain traction and you will be in a position to raise money or reinvest positive cash flow to drive growth. One of your first investments will likely be in hiring your first non-founding member. As you move to hire employee four, five, and six you will likely see that they are unable to match your level of enthusiasm. At first you won’t understand why they can’t be as emotionally invested as you but take a step back and think about it rationally.

• Don’t be frugal when it comes to your team’s well-being

The next thing we did was implement a very generous medical benefits program including maternity coverage. Your health benefits are likely going to be between 5 percent to 10 percent of your compensation costs and I don’t think this is the area to be frugal. Your employees well-being and security should be on the top of your agenda. You may be 24 and a model of good health but the rest of your team probably does not feel invincible. This is one of the most important investments you can make that shows your team you are serious about building a company for the long-term.

• Don’t be a big brother (leave that to your competitors)

Give your team the freedom to balance their life and work. If someone has to go to the dentist for an hour, don’t keep tabs. Let people have some downtime during the day to engage their social networks, go out for a coffee, or surf the internet. You do it so why can’t they? Nobody can be productive from morning to night. Without small mental breaks productivity is killed anyway and we find ourselves staring blankly at a screen. This is probably the environment at your bloated competitor who is too busy wasting their time running ridiculous reports on their employees habits.

• Build a diverse environment

Without this diversity of thought your innovation and edge will suffer. We were fortunate that we managed a very diverse global team in our previous career and that instilled in us the importance of bringing that culture into our startup. We have six nationalities represented in our team.

I saw that you filed a claim thru paypal. I want to resolve this just as you do. You would have already been refunded had you submitted the requested photo to shipsurance. With the paypal claim no refund will even be considered until the item is returned. The return is at your expense, @$30.00. My item and packaging complete, inside another box. Why go thru all that trouble and expense when all that is needed is 1 photo? please advise asap.
All you need to do - see message from shipsurance - much faster and more practical than sending everything back at added expense.

Tencent’s Penguin Helps You Find Music on New Song-Recognition Web App

Finding a piece of music can be frustrating if you don’t know the name of it, or even who sung it. But China’s biggest social media company, Tencent (HKG:0700), has the solution with its brand-new song-recognition web app. It allows anyone to just sing at their computer, and the familiar penguin mascot (pictured above) will point you in the direction of some songs that sound like what you’re looking for.

曲名や、歌っている人さえも分からない曲を探すのは苛立たしいことだ。しかし、中国のソーシャルメディアの最大手のTencent (HKG:0700)は、最新の曲認識ウェブアプリでこの問題を解決してくれる。コンピュータに向かった歌うだけで、親しみやすいマスコットのペンギン（上の写真）が探している曲に似たいくつかの曲の方に導いてくれるのだ。

It’s called ‘Soso Hum.’ It is – aside from being useful and quite fun – a double PR boost for the company’s search engine, Soso, and for its Soso Music portal. After singing or humming a tune, the penguin should be able to give you five suggestions:

Right now, there’s no mobile app to go along with Soso Hum – unlike, say, SoundHound, which has been doing this song-finding trick for years – and, after testing it out (thanks to someone much more tuneful than I), it seems to work best with Chinese singing. Being a lousy singer, I played it music from my phone, but it failed to recognise any of that.

Angry Birds Hits Japan for Cherry Blossom Season, Partners with Fuji TV

Ever since Rovio chose to celebrate its 2nd birthday in Japan, it was expected that a Japanese version of Angry Birds Seasons was in the works. The game developer just yesterday pushed out a cherry blossom festival update for the title for both Android and iOS. Rovio also partnered with Japan’s Fuji TV to bring Angry Birds to many new fans via the Fuji TV website at angrybirds.fujitv.co.jp.

Rovioが設立２年目を日本で祝うことを決めた時から、日本版Angry Birdsシーズンの作品に期待が寄せられていた。ゲーム開発会社が、AndroidとiOS用のゲームタイトル、cherry blossom festivalを昨日ちょうどアップデートした。また、Rovioはフジテレビのウェブサイトangrybirds.fujitv.co.jpを介してAngry Birdsを多くの新しいファンに届けるため、フジテレビと組んだのだ。

I gave the game a try in the browser at the Fuji TV site and I liked it a lot. The cherry blossom theme, Mount Fuji backdrop, food items like norimaki or onigiri, and Japan-theme costumes costumes of the birds were all lots of fun. The pigs even appear to have been influenced by Japanese architecture when building their little wooden forts.

フジテレビのサイトでゲームを試してみたが、すごく気に入った。桜がテーマで、背景の富士山、のり巻やおにぎりの様な食べ物、鳥が身にまとった日本をテーマにした衣装等、みなとても楽しいものだった。木製のとりでを作るブタが、まるで日本の建築様式の影響を受けたように思えた。

So after going to China and Japan, where are the Angry Birds going next? It looks like space is the next frontier, coming on March 22nd if this tweet from @AngryBirds is to be trusted. And apparently Rovio has another special announcement coming in about an hour or so at 3pm GTM. I’ll try and update this post as soon as I hear about it.

Update: It looks like the announcement was Angry Birds Space after all. But they made the announcement in space, with some help from NASA!

Kawaii Twikao Turns Your Face Into An Emoticon

Over on JapanTrends I came across Twikao, an iPhone app that turns your face into an emoticon or kaomoji. You simply take a photo of your own face and let the app do the rest. It’s a little wacky, but its undeniably creative.

The app is only able to detect human faces, because I tried it on my dog (as ya’ do) and an Angry Bird plush toy, but it doesn’t seem to work. There isn’t any business model except advertising for now.

JapanTrendsでTwikaoを見つけた。それはあなたの顔を感情アイコンや顔文字に変換してくれるiPhoneアプリだ。自分の顔写真をただ撮るだけで、後はアプリがやってくれるのだ。少し奇抜だが、紛れもなく独創性に富んでいる。

自分の犬とAngry Bird のビロードのおもちゃで試してみた(誰もがやる様に)が反応しなかったので、このアプリは、人間の顔のみしか認識できない。今は、宣伝しているだけで、特にビジネスに結びついてはいないようだ。

Emoticons are popular in Japan, so it will be interesting to see how many people start playing with it. In the past we have also written about KakaoTalk, a Whatsapp-like service but with really cute emoticons — it is popular among Japanese and Koreans. Facebook could really use this service too if it were incorporated within its service.

感情アイコンは日本では人気があるので、どれくらいの人が利用し始めるか楽しみだ。以前、日本と韓国で人気がありWhatsappのようなセービスで、とてもキュートな感情アイコンのKakaoTalkについての記事を書いたことがある。サービスに組込まれていれば、Facebookでも実際に利用できるのだ。

Unfortunately with the tour stuff its not designed to be sold the the public, therefore there is no warranty or COA, however I generally will warranty it myself. The problem is too a lot of our clubs are purchased from tour player and people who work on tour. Therefore their name cant really be put out there or they get in trouble. Some of the older stuff like the dots and the SF we purchase direct from the Taylormade Tour Department. I can send you stuff like this, which proves it was made for TM and tested for tour use.
With retail stuff its almost impossible to tell. The problem is TM uses 4 different factories to make clubs, therefore not all are the exact same. So its hard to tell.

No offense taken. I am one of the true leaders in pointing out the differences in fake versus real. The guys selling fake stuff take business away from me, as if I am asking 1200 for a new R11S then some guy sells a fake one on ebay for 400 I am the one who looks like an idiot because most people don’t know how to tell.

the cloth for the roof is packed in the acessory area of the box like were the fender skirts are is what i was told by franklin mint the car was never out of the box axcept to taks pic.s for ebay it should be there i didnt even know there was a top i thought it was a conv. but i did contact franklin mint to see and agan they said the top was packed is a styrafoam part of the accesory are of the package as the top wont go down on the car with the cloth on it i even learned somthing new on the car i never knew it had that option so please look in every crack and corner onf the box as they tell me its there and if not let me know as i will contact them again and get it resolved thank you

franklin mintに聞いたら、ルーフ用のクロスは、箱の中のフェンダースカートが入ってる辺りに付属品と一緒にパックされているとのことでした。車はebayの撮影用に箱から出すまでは、未開封でしたので、中にあるはずです。コンバーチブルだと思っていたので、ルーフがあることさえも知りませんでした。franklin mintに再度連絡をとってみましたが、ルーフはアクセサリーと一緒に発泡スチロールでクロスのかかった車の上に落ちないようにパックされているそうです。そのようになっていたとは、初めて知りました。彼らが中にあるはずだと言うので、箱の全ての隙間や隅々まで見てみて下さい。もし、それでも入ってないようでしたら、再度先方に連絡して解決策を見つけます。

The last greeting card innovation was adding music, which is rather boring. Now with augmented reality technology, you can give someone a card with a very special message. Ok those heads come direct to me from the taylormade tour department. They are not fake. If you don't want them send them back and I will sell them here. My reputation is flawless. The reasons you are pointing out are invalid. TM uses different factories to make make the heads so not all of them are the exact same. A little gap is nothing to worry about. The way to tell with the t serial is the serial number and the on the hosel. All of the fake txxxx r11 have had a serial starting in t9 they also don't have a on the hosel.
Like I said there is no way I can send you a certificate of authenticity. Like I said it doesn't exist. Do a little more digging around you will find I don't sell anything that's fake.
