During the great earthquake of the eastern Japan, the tsunami washed the large fishing boat "The Eighteenth Tokumaru" 500 meter into dryl and from the sea at Miyazaki prefecture, Kesen numa district.This conveyed the frightful power of Tsunami once again. The citizens of the area discussed whether to preserve or take apart the boat;the latter was ultimately chosen. I, who does not live in this district, cannot make statements lightly. Even then, I wish to behold "The Eighteenth Tokumaru" with my eyes before the dismantling starts. The boat must have wanted to bask in the vast expanse of the sea for longer. In Anticipation of Next Year’s Election, Indonesian Government Launches Online Voter Database

The Indonesian government has been embracing the internet as of late, and yesterday the General Elections Commission (KPU) put the temporary voter list (DPS) online to help citizens check their voter status more easily. The online list, which can be accessed through KPU.go.id, was built in preparation for the upcoming presidential election next year. This latest feature is definitely a step up for the Indonesian voting process.

インドネシア政府は近日、インターネットの使用を認定しつつある。
戦況管理委員会（KPU）は昨日、国民がより容易く投票登録を確認できる仮投票者表（DPS）をインターネット上へ掲載した。
KPU.go.idでアクセスできるDPSは、来年の大統領選挙の下準備として拵えられた。このアイディアは、インドネシア選挙をより良く進化させただろう。

The temporary voter list has been one of the most common problems in the Indonesian election process since bygone days. Past issues with the list include people who are already dead still being on it, recording the same person multiple times (which becomes a problem if that person takes advantage of it to vote multiple times), and not listing people who should have voting rights. The new online list solves that last problem, as now people can check long before the election starts to see if they are a registered voter. And if not, they can immediately register themselves at the appropriate government office.

投票仮登録者表は、インドネシアの過去の選挙で最も問題になった分野の一つだ。問題として、死亡者の名前が表示されていたり、同一人物が何度も登録されたり（悪用され、数回投票する恐れがある）、投票権利を持つ人民が除名されていたのが指摘された。これらの問題点は、選挙前から各自の名前をリスト内で確認出来るので、改善されている。投票者票に名が載っていないのであれば、登録可能な公署に行き、すぐさま投票者になれる。

Checking your voter status is quite simple; you just need to input your identity number in the search box. Afterwards you can see your voter data, including your identity and designated voting venue. So far there are about 177 million temporary registered voters on KPU’s offline database and 104 million of them are already in the new online system.

ただ、日本で販売するにあたり、少し課題もありました。

1.パッキングが不十分。
->箱を開けたところ、バックパックが何も梱包されていない
状態で出てきました。

テープでしっかりと箱が閉じてあったので、開梱時はカッター
ナイフを使う必要があります。
カッターナイフで開梱した場合、バックパックを切る可能性が
非常に高いです。特に税関の抜き打ち検査が危険です。
”開梱時にカッターナイフを使わないで！”というような
ステッカーは用意できませんか？

The quality is really good. Amazing!
However, there are challenges selling this in Japan.

1.Insufficient support in the back
When I opened the package, there was no backing for support at all.

The box was sealed tightly with a tape, so a utility knife is necessary to open the package.
There's a high chance of cutting the backing while opening with this tool.
Can you put a sticker with a warning like "Don't use a sharp object to open this!" from now on?

2.スケボーのエアキャップが不十分。
スケボーを梱包するエアキャップの角に穴が開いていました
角の部分の梱包をもう少ししっかりと行うことはできますか？

それと、製品について一番気になる点について教えて下さい。
折り畳んだスケボーを広げた状態で固定ができません。
折り畳み部分のヒンジは硬めですが、これではトリックが
ほぼできないと思います。

この製品はロングスケートボードなので、トリックは想定
していないということでしょうか？？
将来ヒンジを固定できる改良版を製作する予定はありますか？

2. Insufficient bubble wrap for the skateboard.
The bubble wrap around the edges of the skateboard was torn.
Can you wrap the edges a little more tightly?

And there's something that really bothers me about the merchandise itself.
The folded skateboard does not stay rigidly fixed when unfolded.
The hinges of the parts folding the skate board is very tight. I think it's nearly impossible to do skateboard tricks with these.

I guess since this merchandise is a longboard, it was not made for tricks??
Are there any plans in the future to produce a improved merchandise with a more stable hinge?

Duets: Your Messaging App Made for Singing

We know that messaging apps are hot in Asia right now. They’re so in demand these days that we even made a list of the hottest messaging apps earlier this year. But what if instead of talking to your peers, you could sing to them instead? This is now possible on Duets app.

Duets Karaoke AppDuets is a turn-based karaoke mobile app for iPhone. I’d say it’s a more entertaining way to communicate with friends than simply chatting or sending animated emoticons. Ben Wintle of Duets points out that this isn’t some sort of music game. “It’s like a messaging app, but instead of talking, you are singing to each other.”

Why the fuss over a karaoke app?

How does it work? First, find your friends on Facebook within Duets app, choose a song from the list and sing the first verse of the song with the help of a slick karaoke-style UI. Your buddy sings the next verse. This goes on alternately to the point where the user has to buy the song to finish singing it.

When the app first launched you could only sing with friends, but now users can sing with people they don’t know within the app. You can either pick a random name from Duets’ list of users, or search by “stage names” (the app’s term for username). Ben says that when the app first came out, many users were tweeting their stage names so that strangers could start duets with them.

In The Philippines, SMS Textbooks Are The Future Of Education

Smartphone adoption in Asia is increasing, but feature phones still dominate some areas. For example, 89 percent of the Metro Manila population are still using feature phones. Advertising agency DM9JaymeSyfu (DM9) saw that feature phones can help the education sector in the country, so it spearheaded the idea of condensing textbooks into SIM cards and executed it with the help of telco Smart Communications. The result is a campaign called Smart Txtbks.

Merlee Jayme, partner and chief creative officer at DM9JaymeSyfu, says the next step is to present this to the Department of Education to make this available to more schools nationwide. She adds that part of the plan is to come up with a donate-your-old-phone campaign to provide more cellphones to public school students.

This campaign also gave the Philippines its first-ever Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, where it went up against more than 35,000 creative projects from 92 countries.
