My native languages are English and Cantonese (a dialect of Chinese), as I spent 8 of my childhood years in Hong Kong before moving to the United States. I can translate from traditional Chinese characters to English. I've been learning French for almost 10 years and Japanese for 5 years and am reaching for native fluency in both.
Since my field is in Japanese anthropology, I have been working with the Japanese language, both through interviews and written sources, since 2007.
