I have nearly 7 years of IT support and programming experience. In addition to this, I have occasionally done translation piece-work and have had to do proofreading and technical writing as part of my job, as I have always worked in small teams where dedicated writers weren't necessarily available. As a native English speaker, I believe I can offer natural translations for Japanese to English translation projects. My Japanese experience includes 4 years of formal study and nearly 10 years of self study, which was sufficient to enable me to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test at the N1 level in December 2015 (awarded January 2016). One of my main hobbies is reading both novels and non-fiction books in Japanese, so I have been exposed to a variety of subject matter and writing styles. I hope to apply all of this experience as I build a portfolio of technical and literary translation work.
