The main risk is that if we went ahead with the claim and HMRC audited your company, if C88/C79 could not be provided you would have to pay back the import VAT. We could of course make a claim with the next quarterly VAT return if you obtain the documents by then.


In our experience, Fedex and DHL seem to be fine when it comes to providing this document as well as UPS in the UK. It’s often local shipping agents from these companies outside of the EU that do not provide the correct documents.
