Or "I am having a problem with your attitude toward your coworkers." Don't allow feelings of discomfort to restrain your ability to tell people what you think. (Of course, a harsh approach is rarely acceptable.)
With your honest and direct communication, employees will know clearly where they fall short and where they excel. They will also know that you care enough about their work to recognize what they are doing well and not doing well.
