しかしながらわれわれは、この矛盾のイメージにおいて、第4番目の作品『充たされざるもの（Unconsoled）』中に見られたような、リアリティの表現方法あるいはリアリティの模倣方法を表現する作家の主要な相違点をを見いだす。『充たされざるもの』は読者を惹きつけてやまない作品ではあるが、作中の街や歴史上の普通の住人として実際に存在する人物の名を使用することで、作品は現実となっている。著者の優れた創造能力のおかげで、研究者によっては作品の内に誰も知らない名の国や街で起こる集団犯罪を目撃するのだ。
