In 2011, the two reconvened along with Allan Lee, formerly of Wistron (once the manufacturing arm of Acer) to build Damo. Chiang says that much of the technology that powers Damo recalls their work at Tellink, and the three of them felt that the rapid adoption of smartphones would give them a chance to revive it.

“We saw an opportunity. At the time there was no Miracast,” says Chiang. “[When we finished the first prototype] Google announced Miracast, so we’ve basically been working in the same time period as Google. We think we’re doing the right thing at the right time.”
