2010年の統計によると、日本の家族の平均的な人員数は2.42人です。
1955年の統計のへ平均5人ｋら大幅に減少しました。
かつて、農作業をするには大家族がともに住む必要がありましたが
、第二次世界大戦後、農村地域から人口の多くが都市部に流出し、子供と夫婦だけの
核家族が一般的になりました。また、75才以上の高齢者の一人暮らしが、10年後には現在
の3倍に増えると予想されています。
