The place you should see when visiting Nara! Yakushisanzon temple of Bhaisajyaguru, the Healing Buddha, is famous for its masterful Buddha statues

Yakushisanzon temple was build in 680 under the order of Emperor Tenpu, who prayed for a recovery of his sick wife. The temple enshrines statues of Bhaisajyaguru who is the main object of worship of the temple and his two attendants, Suryaprabha and Candraprabha. All three of the statues are considered to be national treasures. We will introduce you to the charm of the temples you will want to visit when going to Nara.

Visiting the World Heritage temples

Yakushisanzon temple can be found in the Nishinokyo area of Nara. The temple is listed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites and you can find there many beautiful statues and works of art from the Tenpyo, Nara, Heian and Kamakura periods.
