これをきっかけに、テレビアニメ『俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない』のプロデューサーに注目され、ファーストシングル『irony』が同アニメのオープニングテーマとして抜擢される。 ユニット名である「ClariS」（クラリス）はメンバーの名前を繋げたもので、ラテン語で「明るい」などの意味を持つ。
