両親の仕事の都合で田舎へ引っ越してきた一条蛍と、越谷姉妹や宮内姉妹などとの日々の光景を描く。そこは「牛横断注意」の看板があったり、バスが2時間おきにしか来ないほどの地方であった。

▼田舎暮らしは個性を育む？
抹茶味のカキ氷に大人を感じるコマ（左）とほたる（右）。

ちなみに、コマはほたるの私服姿が大人すぎて（コマ目線で、ですが）東京からきた旅行客だと思いこみ、ほたる本人だとは思っていません。ほたるは大好きな先輩と一緒に遊べて舞い上がり、コマの勘違いに気付いていません。
