本利用規約において使用する用語の意義は、次の各号に定めるとおりとします。
( 1 )本アプリとは弊社が運営する「A」と称するスマートフォンアプリ(iOS/Android)をいいます。

using "is referred to" can give a completely different meaning
"User" starts with the consonant sound "y" therefore it cannot be "an user"
The reason why we have a and an is to make it sound more natural, which is why we pay attention to sound, not spelling when figuring out whether we use a or an.
