現在も京都には茶道の家元が拠点を置き、またお寺や神社の行事、祇園祭などのお祭りでもしばしば献茶(けんちゃ)が行われるなど、茶道の文化は京都にはとても根強く受け継がれています。
元々お茶が日本に伝えられたころは、お茶の飲み方といえば皆、粉にしたお茶をお湯で溶いて飲む「抹茶」のスタイルでした。急須を使って入れる「煎茶」のスタイルは、江戸時代になってから生まれたものです。(実は煎茶の拠点も、京都の宇治・黄檗宗萬福寺(おうばくしゅう・まんぷくじ)にあります)
Even today , Kyoto is the center of schoolmaster of tea ceremony. It is practiced during temples and shrines festivals, gion festivals and oftentimes during tea offerings (Gencha). The tea ceremony culture has been handed down persistently in Kyoto.
When tea was originally tea was made known in Japan, everyone perceives the powdered tea is dissolved in hot water for drinking called "Matcha" as the style of drinking tea. The "Green tea" using a small teapot style was born during the Edo period. (Actually green tea is available in Kyoto's Uji / Obakushu-Manpukuji (Obakushu-Manpukuji))
