US-made messaging app Whatsapp is being chattier than usual today. Aside from adding walkie-talkie style voice messaging to the app – something that WeChat has had for well over a year – Whatsapp has revealed that it has over 20 million active users in India right now.

While it’s a ballpark figure – WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum gave the same number for Germany, Mexico, and Spain – it makes clear that WhatsApp, despite the assault from Asia-made services like Line and WeChat, is still the leader of the pack in this booming sector.
