日本での仕事の一つで商工会に勤めていたときに外国からのお客さんをもっと呼びたいというオファーがありました。
そこは小さな温泉街で英語がしゃべれる人は少ないので、極力わかりやすいように街の各箇所、お店の中などにテロップを作りました。
小さな田舎の温泉街でしたので、外国人にとっても喜ばれ、それにより口コミで外国人のお客さんが増えたことにより街の人にも喜んでもらえました。

世界にはこのような両極面での問題は他にもあるはずです。そういった世界の問題を発見する為に英語は必須となります。

One of the jobs that I did while I was working at a chamber of commerce was to attract more customers from overseas.
It was a small hot springs village where few people could speak English, so we put up English signs at various places around the town, inside shops, etc., to make it easy to understand.
As it was a small hot springs village in a rural area, it was well received by the foreign visitors, and because more customers came from overseas by word of mouth, the people in the village were also pleased.

There must be other problems in the world at these extremes. English is indispensable for identifying such problems in the world.
