同サービスを運営するLang8の代表取締役 喜洋洋氏は京都大学に在学中、彼が23歳の時にLang-8をスタートさせた。中国生まれの彼が上海に留学中、友人と交わした日記の添削がヒントになってこの語学学習プラットフォームを思いついたという。
