White Label Space（WLSJ）はクラウドファンディングサービス、Campfireにおいてプロジェクトを開始した。理由は先にも述べたように、宇宙開発には莫大な費用がかかるためだ。Google Lunar X Prizeで優勝できれば、約16億円もの賞金が手に入るが、ローバーの開発やそれを月へ送るロケットの打ち上げには費用がかかる。
