Bodil worked in the Norwegian fisheries ministry. One of the problems she was assigned to deal with was to encourage young girls to return and live on the Lofoten Islands where they grew up. For some years, the Lofoten Islands off the northen coast of Norway near the town of Narvik, had been experiencing a serious depopulation problem. The boys who returned from schools and universities went back to live on the Islands and became fishermen. But the local girls did not want to return, because they did not much to do on the Islands.
