伝統的な輸出品としては、鉄鉱石や綿花がメインですね。1950年代から日本へ輸出し、日本の高度経済成長を影で支えていたのです。あとは金や宝石、そしてカレーをはじめとする食品があります。そして1994年から、今話題となっているIT (ソフトウエア) の輸出を始めました。
Q：日本企業のインドへの進出はうまくいっていますか？
アプローチできてないですね。日本製品はインド人にとって高すぎるのです。

Q: What kind of products do Indian companies export to Japan?
As traditional products, iron ores and cottons are primary exports. These have been exported to Japan since 1950's, supporting Japan's high economic growth behind the scene. Among others are gold, gem stones, food products such as curry etc. And starting 1994, we began exporting IT (softwares) that became popular now.
Q: Are Japanese companies doing well at Indian market?
They haven't appealed enough. For Indians Japanese products are too expensive.
