スポーツとしての登山の歴史は、16世紀の安土桃山時代から始まる。
江戸時代には、山そのものを味わうために、画家や医学者が北アルプスなどに登った。

Mountain-climbing as a sports began in the 16th century during the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
During the Edo period, artists and physicians climbed the northern alps to have a taste of the mountains.
