International insurers are continuing to show that they are willing to suffer sometimes chaotic and high-cost operating environments in order to take advantage of long-term growth in the BRIC countries .
The BRICs are known for their large and expanding populations and natural resources and are expected to see a near quintupling in GDP per capita from 2003 to 2015, the agency said in a new report.
"These growth prospects have induced many companies to include these countries as essential ingredients in a long-term business plan, despite the high costs," the report said, pointing also to "high barriers to entry, the need foran extended time horizon, and significant lega burdens."
