手水舎とは、神社や仏閣にあります。
水で手を洗い口をすすいで身を清めます。

日本で龍は神様の一つとして考え、水を司る神として信仰されています。
そのため手水舎の多くは、水の神である龍神から出る水を神聖な水としています。

近年では手水舎に花を浮かべてアレンジするのが日本各地で見られます。
花手水舎と言われ、美しい手水舎を見に多くの観光客が訪れています。
