To many of the foreigners in Japan who come for sight-seeing, T-shirts and decorations that have kanji characters on them are popular as souvenirs. But for Japanese going from Japan to overseas, or doing homestay and language study, Japanese dolls which always keep their shape and can be used for decoration any time are popular as presents to local people.
