Relative to less authoritarian women, the more authoritarian women expressed lower positive affect, were unlikely to view motherhood as an avenue for self-growth, and had fewer positive things to say about their children. In sum, the traditional roles of mother and wife did not seem to lead to uniform happiness for authoritarian women. This is ironic given the investment that authoritarian men and women seem to have in promoting conventionality and traditional gender roles.
The results shown in Table3 suggest that the more generative women experienced a phenomenological sense of agency.
