EFGとは簡単にいうと「古い皮膚の細胞を新しく生まれ変わらせる」働きをするグロースファクターの1つです。1962年にアメリカの生理学者スタンレー・コーエン博士が発見した成分で、スタンレー博士はこのことでノーベル賞を受賞したためノーベル賞受賞成分、とも呼ばれています。
