Blessings keep coming in for Amy Purdy as she starts to live through another chapter in her life despite her handicap.
Four months later, I was back up on a snowboard.
Although, things didn't go quite as expected.
My knees and my ankles wouldn't bend and, at one point,.
.I traumatized all the skiers on the chairlift.
.when I fell and my legs, still attached to my snowboard,...
.went flying down the mountain.
And I was on top of the mountain still.
I was so shocked. I was just as shocked as everybody else.
And I was so discouraged but, I knew that if I could find the right pair of feet,.
.that I would be able to do this again.
And this is when I learned, that our borders and our obstacles can only do two things:

そして、私はまだ山の頂上に居たのです。
私は非常にショックを受けました。みんなと同じように、ただショックを受けたのです。
そして、とてもがっかりしましたが、もし私にぴったりの足を見つける事が出来たら…
再びスノーボードができるとわかりました。
そしてこれが、私達の境界と障害ができることはたった２つしかないと学んだときです。
何ヶ月後、私はスノーボードに戻りました。
だけれども、物事は思ったようには行きませんでした。
ある１点でひざと足首が曲がらず、
チェアーリフトのスキーヤーを心配させてしまいました。
転んだとき、足はまだスノーボードに付いていました．．．
山を飛び降りました。
そして山の上でじっとしていました。
とてもショックでした。他の皆と同じようにショックでした。
とてもがっかりしましたが、ぴったりの足を見つけられると分かっていました。
もう一度これをできるようになることも分かっていました。
私が学んだのは、私たちの境界や障害がなせるのはたった２つであることです。
One, stop us in our tracks or two, force us to get creative.
I did a year of research. Still couldn't figure out what kind of legs to use.
I couldn't find any resources that could help me.
So, I decided to make a pair myself!
My leg maker and I put random parts together.
...and we made a pair of feet that I could snowboard in.
As you can see, rusted bolts, rubber, wood and neon pink duct tape.
And yes, I can change my toe nail polish.
It was these legs and the best 21st birthday gift I could ever receive,...
...a new kidney from my dad, that allowed me to follow my dreams again.
I started snowboarding, then I went back to work, then I went back to school.
Then, in 2005 I cofounded a non-profit organization.
...for youth and young adults with physical disabilities,…
...so they could get involved with action sports.
From there, I had the opportunity to go to South Africa,.
...where I helped to put shoes on thousands of children's feet so they could attend school.
And just this past February, I won two back to back World Cup gold medals.
Which made me the highest rank adaptive female snowboarder in the world.
11 years ago, when I lost my legs, I had no idea what to expect.
But if you ask me today if I would ever want to change my situation,.
..I would have to say "No", because my legs haven't disabled me.
If anything they've enabled me, they forced me to rely on my imagination.
.and to believe in the possibilities.

私は、そこから南アフリカ...何千人もの子どもたちに学校にいけるように私が靴を贈ったのですが、そこに行くチャンスを掴みました。
先日、2月には、ワールドカップのゴールドメダルを2つもいただきました。
女子スノーボードでは、最高の栄冠に到達することができたのです。
11年前、両足を失った時、この先どうなるか全く分からなかった。
でも、今、私の状況をを変えたいかと誰かに聞かれたら、答えは「NO」です。だって、私の足は、私を障害者にしたわけではないですから。
私が、こんなふうにできるようになったのは、周りの人たちが私が想像するままに任せてくれて、可能性を信じられたためなのです。
