And it is easy to get demoralized over this, since these types of jobs always seem to take more time than the stuff you had in mind when you opened the business.

I urge you to find some method of stepping back from the "grunt" work and reminding yourself of your ultimate goal in all of this. See yourself doing what your ultimate objective is. Once you do that, you will be able to go back to the things you have to do, secure in the knowledge that you are on your way to doing what you want to do.

もし小さな会社にいて床の掃除やお使いなどたくさんのさまざまなことをしているのであれば、こういったことにあまりわくわくしないことはたくさんあるだろう。そしてやる気をなくすのは簡単である。何故ならこういったタイプの仕事は常に仕事を始めた時に心の中にあったことよりも時間がかかるようにみえるからである。

『単純作業』から一歩離れる方法を見つけて、これら全ての中にある究極の目標を思い出しなさい。自分の究極の目標をやっている自分を見つめてごらんなさい。いったんそうすれば、自分がしなければならないことに戻り、自分がやりたいことをする途中にあるのだと知って安心できるだろう。

小さな商売をやっていて、床掃除から使い走り至るまでのいろんな雑事もしないといけない場合、チャンスは、こういった仕事をあんまりうれしく思わない、というところにある。こういった仕事は、商売を始めたときに想定していたよりも時間がかかるものなので、やる気がなくなってしまいがちだ。

ぜひ、こういった「面倒な」仕事からちょっと離れてみて、こういった仕事すべてに最高のゴールがある、ということを思い出してほしい。自分が、最高のことをしているんだ、と思うのだ。そうやってから、しないといけないことに戻るといい。常に、自分はやりたいことをやっているんだ、ということを覚えておくように。
