If you don't have a clear program, take some time to think about each employee. For each person, list strengths and weaknesses. Talk with employees about what you see as their strengths and weaknesses, and find out what kinds of work excite them. Reflect on all your observations and the. information that they give you. What areas in the company can they grow into? What level of responsibility do they want to achieve? Are appropriate learning opportunities available?
You should find out your company's plans for the future.

よろこんで時間をあげなさい。もし短期的な生産性の損失に不満をいえば、活用できる機会を求めようとする部下のやる気をそぐだろう。
もし明確なプログラムがないならば、部下それぞれに対して時間を取って考えなさい。それぞれの人に対して、強みと弱みをリストアップしなさい。上司である自分が見ているその部下の強みと弱みを話しなさい。どんな種類の仕事が部下を鼓舞するか見つけなさい。観察したことすべてと部下が提供した情報を熟考なさい。部下が成長できる社内の分野は何だろう？達成したいと思っている責任のレベルはどのぐらいだろう？適切な学習の機会は活用できるだろうか？
会社の将来計画を調べる必要がある。
