Recall principles
Leading by example really goes back to the basic principles you want to run your business by. You must go back to the principles and compare them to what you are displaying by your behavior. All too often, it is easy to expect one thing and live another. We all do it.
When you recognize inconsistencies, try to narrow the gap between expectations and behavior. When you fall short, admit it. Pride is perhaps the most negative quality that you can exhibit when trying to motivate your employees. If you seem too good to live up to your own standards, those who work for you will have no motivation to live up to them, either.

原則を思い出せ。
見本となってリードすることによって、実際には、自分のビジネスをこういう風にしたいという基本的な原則に戻ることになる。原則に戻って、現在の自分の行動によって表面化していることと比較しなければいけない。期待していることと実際の行動は違う、というのは、よくあることなのだ。我々は常にそうなってしまう。
矛盾に気づいたとき、期待することと実際の行動の間の溝を狭くするよう努力をしなさい。期待に足りていないなら、それを認めなさい。従業員のモチベーションを上げようとしている時、プライドは恐らく最も好ましくないものだ。もしも、あなたの基準が高すぎて実践できないと感じるなら、あなたのために働いている従業員もまた実践しようというモチベーションを持てないだろう。
