水曜日に出された厚生労働省の発表によると、日本の出生率は2008年度には3年連続でじりじりと上昇してきているが、死亡人口が出生人口を５１３００人上回って、高齢者人口は減少傾向にある。
現在1億2千7百60万の人口を有する日本にとって、2015年までに65歳以上の高齢者が国民全体の４分の１以上を占めるという予測からすると、深刻な経済的打撃に直面することは避けられない。
