日本では結婚式で新郎新婦にこの袋を渡します。

歴史
この飾りは日本語で「水引」といいます。
この歴史は古く西暦1400年にさかのぼります。貿易の時に箱に赤白の縄がしばりつけてあったのが始まりといわれています。その後、贈答品には赤白の紐をかけることが一般的になっていきました。
