The statue of Chuken Hachiko is a bronze statue at Shibuya Station Square.
"Chuken Hachiko", the name is known to all over Japan as a symbol of Shibuya, was born in Odate, Akita Prefecture in 1923.
From the next year, he was looked after by Eizaburo Ueno, the agricultural department of Tokyo University. He saw him off when he went to work and met him when he came home from work.

Unfortunately, however, Professor Ueno died suddenly in 1925. After that, he was looked after by various people.
Hachiko was still waiting for Professor Ueno from work. And the statue of Chuken Hachiko was built by the local volunteers that were touched by the dog.
