東海道新幹線（東京―新大阪）が来春、２３年ぶりに最高速度を２８５キロにアップする。カーブが多い路線のため、１９９２年の「のぞみ」登場以来、２７０キロで頭打ちだった。来月１日で開業５０年。記録更新は、「うまく曲がり、早く止まる技術」を追求し続けた成果だ。
In the coming Spring, Tōkaidō Shinkansen (between Tokyo Station and Shin-Ōsaka Station) will upgrade its top speed, for the first time in the last 23 years, into 285 km/h. Since there are many curves on this railway, it has been impossible to excel the 270km/h which Shinkansen "Nozomi" achieved in 1992. The first day of the next month is their 50th anniversary. Their record-breaking is the result of their continuous pursuit of "the technique to curve well and stop quickly".
