韓国での活動だけにとどまらず、日本においてもJ-POP の一新人として、2005 年4 月にデビュー。
日本語で歌う彼らも、徐々に人気を獲得し、2007 年には、チケット争奪となった全国ホールツアー「TOHOSHINKI 2nd LIVE TOUR 2007 ～ FIVE IN THE BLACK ～」を開催。
あまりの盛況ぶりに、追加公演として、日本武道館2DAYS を追加し、それもまた即完売させる。
They are active not only in Korea, but they are also innovators of J-Pop in Japan, who debuted in April 2005.
Singing in Japanese, they gradually built their popularity until their countrywide tour "TOHOSHINKI 2nd LIVE TOUR 2007 -FIVE IN THE BLACK-" was held in 2007, tickets for it were difficult to obtain.
After its success, as an additional appearance, 2 days in the Budoukan were added. The event sold out immediately as well.
2008 年前半には初の全国アリーナツアー「TOHOSHINKI 3rd LIVE TOUR 2008 ～ T ～」を敢行。
彼らのパフォーマンスの高さは、幅広く評価され、全国約15 万人の観客を動員しての大規模なライブツアーも大成功に収めている。
2007 年に、積極的なリリースを続け、2008 年の年明けにリリースしたSG「Purple Line」で、初のオリコンシングルチャート1 位を獲得。
In the first half of 2008, their first nationwide arena tour, "TOHOSHINKI 3rd LIVE TOUR 2008 -T-" was held.
Their performance was widely praised, they managed to gather around 15 000 spectators around the country, making this big-scale tour a great success.
In 2007, they continued their active campaign of releases. With "Purple Line", released at the very beginning of 2008, they achieved their first #1 song at Oricon single charts.
同年4 月リリースSG「Beautiful you/ 千年恋歌」、7 月リリースSG「どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう？」、10 月リリース「呪文-MIROTIC-」が4 作連続でオリコンチャート1 位を獲得し、外国人アーティストとしてオリコンシングルウィークリーランキング連続1 位の最高記録を更新した。
In the same year, along with single "Beautiful you/ One-thousand-year love song" in April, single "Why did I end up falling in love with you" released in July, "Magic Spell -MIROTIC" in October, they had four releases in total that continued scoring the 1st place in Oricon Chart and reset the new record for securing 1st place in Oricon's Weekly Single Ranking as non-Japanese artists.
2008 年には、オリコンシングルウィークリーランキング1 位を獲得した回数も全アーティスト中1位（2008 年11 月1 日時点）と、J-POP シーンにその名を轟かせる存在となる。
その圧倒的な人気は日本・韓国だけにとどまらず、中国、台湾、タイ、マレーシア等の アジアの各地域でもその名を轟かせており、2006 年、2007 年でのアジアツアーを成功させるまでに至っている。
In 2008, their reputation became distinguished in the picture of J-POP, with the repeated toppers in Oricon's Weekly Single Ranking alongside Best Artist Award (by the time of November 1st, 2008).
Their overwhelming fame was not limited to just Japan or Korea as their name was also well known in various places in Asia, such as China, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia, leading to their successful Asia Tour in 2006 and 2007.
2008 年末、初となる日本レコード大賞ノミネート（優秀作品賞受賞）とNHK 紅白歌合戦出場を果たし、その余勢を駆って翌2009 年3 月にアルバム『The Secret Code』は、初めて日本レコード協会から「プラチナ」の認定を受ける大ヒットとなった。
同年7 月、デビュー以来の目標であった東京ドーム公演を成功。
At the end of 2008, they were nominated for the Japanese Record Grand Prix for the first time (won the "Excellent Work" prize), and managed to appear in Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Riding the wave of their popularity, in March 2009, they received a platinum disc from the Japanese Record Association for the first time for their album "The Secret Code", which became a big hit.
The same year in July, they reached the goal they were aiming at since the debut - performing at the Tokyo Dome.
また、日本での活動の合間を縫って、2009 年2 月からソウル、タイ、中国を巡回するアジアツアーを展開する中、2008 年末にはJEJUNG 初主演映画の撮影を行い、翌2009 年7 月にはYUNHO やCHANGMIN もテレビドラマへの主演等、今まで行っていなかったソロ活動も行っていた。
2010 年4 月グループ活動が休止。
Also, to fill in the spaces made by their activity in Japan, they set out on a tour to Asia in February 2009, to Seoul, Thailand and China. At the end of 2008, the first film in which JEJUNG played the main role was shot. In July 2009, YUNHO and CHANGMIN also starred in a TV series among others and tried pursuing solo careers.
In April 2010, the group announced a hiatus.
約1 年ぶりの長い休止を経て、2010 年11 月末、音楽活動を自制していたYUNHO とCHANGMIN により、当面の間2 人による東方神起の再活動が発表された。
アジア全域で待ち望まれていた再始動！
2011 年1 月26 日にリリースした「Why? (Keep Your Head Down)」はオリコン・着うたランキングとも断トツの１位を獲得し、変わらずの人気を実証した。
After a long hiatus of about one yer, TOHOSHINKI's comeback formed by two members - YUNHO and CHANGMIN - for the time being after their activities had been restricted was announced in the end of November 2010.
The comeback that the whole Asia is awaiting!
"Why? (Keep Your Head Down)" released in January 26th, 2011 got 1st place in Oricon's Ringtone ranking, confirming their unshaken reputation.
